… targets N202bn in 2022

Acting  Chairman  of  the FCT Internal Revenue Service, FCT- IRS, Haruna Abdullahi has disclosed that the Service has raked in the sum of N118 billion in November 2021.
Abdullahi who spoke at the End of the Year Media  Briefing in Abuja today said, ” In spite of the challenges faced by the Service and the FCT due to the impact of  COVID-19 , we are able to achieve and surpass our revenue target of N109 billion by 108% as at the end of November 2021. With this the Service has so far collected and remitted the sum of N118 billion.
According to him the  Service was able to achieve the feat through the use of technology driven  online platform strategy adopted byyc FCT-IRS.
Other strategies adopted by the Service for increased pursuit include the FCT-IRS Tax Portal, use of Microsoft Office 365 among others which improvement of  customer satisfaction.
Also  the Service said it opened three additional Tax offices in Like, Bwari and Gwarimpa to cater e taxpayers who reside in those areas.
“We have also automated the payment and filling of tax returns so that our taxpayers do not necessarily have to physically visit our tax offices. They now process payments and filling of tax returns in the comfort of their homes seamlessly and without hassle.”
Abdullahi further disclosed that for 2022, the Service has  a revenue  target of N 202 billion, adding that it would embark aggressive public enlightenment campaign and sensitization to educate and mobilize people to boost the revenue base of FCTA.
Meanwhile, the service said it will not hesitate to enforce action  against tax  defaulters shortchanging the FCTA.
