By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

A federal High Court sitting in Lokoja on Thursday ordered the stoppage of the process of appointing a new Vice Chancellor for the Federal University, Lokoja.

The order followed an experte motion filled by Barrister Julius Elukpo, a Notable Public opinion leader in the state.

In the motion, “Chief Elukpo called for judicial review in pursuant to Order 34 rule one (one) three sub section one -two of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) rules 2019.”

“The legal luminary whomaintained that the criteria used to screen out some applicants be made available to the public, however, called for a level playing ground for all applicants from the three senatorial districts in the state.

The Court subsequently ordered that the exercise be put on hold pending the determination of the case.

It would be recalled that Chief Julius Elukpo had earlier demanded for the list of all Vice Chancellors in the Country from the Federal Ministry of Education in line with the Freedom of Information Act twenty eleven which seemed not to be complied with.
