Federal Govt Launches Portal For Sale Of Houses

The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Architect Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, launched the Renewed Hope Portal, designed to simplify access to the federal government’s mass housing programs. This new online platform aims to provide Nigerians with a transparent, user-friendly, and integrated web-based application for purchasing homes under the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates Programme, initiated by President Tinubu earlier this year.

At the launch event in Abuja, Dangiwa highlighted that this initiative marks a significant step toward creating a more efficient and future-oriented housing platform. It builds on lessons learned from previous housing initiatives and aims to streamline the homeownership process.

The Renewed Hope Portal is designed to support a Demand-Driven Strategy for Housing by collecting essential data on housing needs across various locations and demographics. Dangiwa emphasized the ministry’s commitment to promoting technology systems and private sector-led initiatives that facilitate homeownership for Nigerians.

“This platform promises to make the journey to homeownership simpler, easier, and more convenient. It features a user-friendly interface, ensuring a smooth and straightforward registration process with identity verification. Potential homeowners can efficiently search for properties using various filters to find homes that meet their specific needs,” he explained.

The portal also includes flexible payment options, allowing for both one-time payments and installment plans to accommodate different financial situations. Additionally, it provides easy access to mortgage plans, enabling users to check their eligibility and apply from anywhere in the world. The platform supports equity contributions for mortgages and aids in financial planning for buyers.

Dangiwa further noted that the ministry aims to build affordable homes in locations where they are genuinely needed to avoid the issue of abandoned houses. Currently, there are estates in 12 locations and three cities across the country, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to addressing housing needs effectively.
