From Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

The federal government has awarded contract for the repair of the dilapidated Lokoja-Shintaku- Dekina-Anyigba Road in Kogi state.

The contract was awarded to Tec. Construction Company few days ago in Abuja. Tec Company handled the just completed Ganaja Flying over Bridge in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital.

The development according to Our Correspondent would address challenges of bad condition of the road linking the people of the eastern flank of Kogi State, particularly part of Bassa Local Governnent Area.

Confirming the development in a chart with Our Reporter on Friday, the Federal Controller of Works for Kogi State, Engr. Jimoh Kajogbola,
said the contract was awarded to Tec. construction company that handled the construction of Ganaja junction Flying over bridge in Lokoja.

The Federal Controller of Works said he had not seen the scope of the work involved in the contract to know if the work would include the road from Ganaja junction flying over to Ganaja village.

He expressed the hope that if the work covers the area mentioned, there would be a major work on the remaining portion of the road waiting for completion.

Investigation by our Correspondent showed that the federal government awarded contract for the emergency repair of the 7-kilometre Ganaja road Novement 2021.

It was gathered that the substantial portion of the road, especially from Baptist High School to Aniebo housing estate has been completed while the remaining portion from that axis to Ganaja village has since been abandoned.

Engr. Kajogbola assured that as soon as the contractors receive mobilisation, they would move to site to begin work.

Our Correspondent reports that the people of Bassa Local Governnent Area, where Shintaku road passes through have been calling on the government for the repair of the road which yielded no fruitful results.
