FG Disburses Cash Grants to 4,616 Beneficiaries Across 14 LGAs in Zamfara

Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster and and Social Development has disbursed cash grants to 4,616 beneficiaries in 14 Local Government Areas, LGAs, in Zamfara State.

The Minister of the Humanitarian Ministry Sadiya Umar Farouq who disclosed this said that additional 4,728 vulnerable groups in the state have been verified and enumerated to receive Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme interest free loans ranging from N50,000 to N300,000.

Also the Minister flagged off the National Sensitization Exercise for the National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme and on-boarded 130 Independent Monitors amongst other projects in the state.

In Zamfara State, 800 beneficiaries including Persons with disabilities and senior citizens will be granted a one-off token of N50,000, she disclosed.

The Minister later visited one of the Camps for Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, to distribute food and non food items, she also launched a school library and distributed utensils to pupils under the National Home Grown Feeding Programme.

Meanwhile at the flag-Off of the Cash Grant for the vulnerable held at the Government House in Gusau on Tuesday, Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Muhammed Matawalle of Zamfara has extolled the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq for her disposition towards the vulnerable in the society, describing her as a worthy daughter of Zamfara State.

Gov Matawalle enumerated the benefits accruing to Zamfara as a result of the National Social Investment Programmes, adding that such steps mitigate poverty and economically empower the people.

This intervention is coming as a compliment to the state
government’s numerous efforts in providing relief and succor to the people of the state, he said.
