Must read

The Federal Government has established “War Rooms” to monitor the implementation of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP) 2021-2025. This initiative was announced by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, during a retreat with Federal Permanent Secretaries in Zuba, Niger State. According to Walson-Jack, the War Rooms will serve as key hubs to drive civil service reforms.

These War Rooms will focus on the six pillars of the reform plan, each addressing specific challenges within the civil service. Permanent Secretaries will lead the operations, ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are involved for swift and coordinated action. Walson-Jack emphasized that the goal is to successfully implement the reforms, benefiting both the Federal Civil Service and the Nigerian public.

“In a move to aggressively implement FCSSIP-25, the Federal Permanent Secretaries reviewed the six pillars and proposed new Key Performance Indicators to enhance the plan’s impact,” said Walson-Jack. The retreat sessions were led by Dr. Deborah Bako Odoh, Permanent Secretary, Service Policies and Strategies Office.

Participants at the retreat highlighted the importance of centralizing technology solutions to drive Enterprise Content Management and Performance Management Systems across the public sector. This, they said, would improve efficiency, ensure uniformity, and enhance transparency in service delivery.

Fatima Mahmood, Permanent Secretary of the Career Management Office, welcomed attendees, noting the collective commitment to transforming the public service. Raymond Omachi, Permanent Secretary of the Common Services Office, praised the productive discussions and dedication shown during the retreat.

The three-day retreat also featured presentations on creativity, innovation, service delivery, and the application of artificial intelligence to improve efficiency and productivity within the public service. Key topics such as the FCSSIP-25 pillars, digitalization, and performance management were also discussed in detail.
