FG Names “King of Steeze” Farooq Oreagba as Culture Ambassador at 2024 Ojude Oba Festival

The National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) has recognized Farooq Oreagba, the standout figure of the 2024 Ojude Oba Festival, as an Honorary Ambassador. Dressed in a flamboyant green and yellow Asooke Agbada and riding majestically on horseback, Oreagba’s viral photo earned him the title “King of Steeze.”

Obi Asika, Director General of NCAC, announced Oreagba’s recognition on Instagram, sharing the Certificate of Recognition awarded to him. Asika praised Oreagba’s boundless energy and spirit, highlighting his role in bringing global attention to the Ojude Oba festival, a key traditional celebration in Ijebu Ode honoring the Awujale.

Asika wrote: “I could not be happier to announce him as an Hon Ambassador for the National Council for Arts and Culture @ncac_nigeria and celebrate him and his boundless energy and spirit. He is now the King of Steeze and brought global attention to #OjudeOba the key traditional festival of Ijebu Ode celebrating the Awujale.”

Oreagba’s striking appearance and compelling personal story made him the highlight of the festival. Despite being diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2014, Oreagba has remained positive and inspirational. His stylish presence at the festival, adorned in green and lemon agbada, red coral beads, a gold crossbody chain, and stylish sunglasses, showcased the elegance and resilience of Nigerian culture.

The 2024 Ojude Oba Festival was celebrated with its usual glitz, glamour, and cultural resonance, honoring the rich traditions of the Ijebu people. Oreagba, originally from Ogun State, stood out for his fashion and grace, embodying hope, courage, and the indefatigable Nigerian spirit.

Oreagba, a former Head of Strategy & Business Development at the Nigerian Stock Exchange, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and carcinoma in 2014. After two years of battling the disease, he was declared cancer-free and returned to work. He is currently the Managing Director and CEO of NG Clearing.

Oreagba’s viral images and videos from the Ojude Oba Festival have captivated social media, showcasing his unique style and the vibrant cultural heritage of Nigeria to the world.
