FG stealing 350,000 barrels of crude daily from A’Ibom, says Group

By Emeka Samue

A group Akwa Ibom Leaders Vanguard on Thursday alleged
that about 350,000 barrels per day is being stolen from different oil production fields in Akwa Ibom by the FG every day.

Spokesperson of the group, Senator Anietie Okon, made the allegation at a media briefing in Uyo

Okon also alleged that other oil producing states in the Niger suffer the same fate.

“There is a massive oil revenue theft and the so called reform is unacceptable and does not meet the simple logic of reforms, and as I speak today, Akwa Ibom state is being owed 350,000 per day in 2016 from some it oil production fields.” He said.

Okon called on the World Bank and the United Nations to advise the federal government on the effect of the revenue generating abilities of the region adding that the development has deprived the state of the neded revenue for development

“We resolve as elders and leaders of the generations of peace loving people to demand the World Bank, the United Nations and other established economic capacity agencies to advise the APC led government on the effect of destroying the revenue generating abilities of the Niger Delta and its threat to world oil production.

“Again we must place on record the enormous volume of oil stolen from or region thereby depriving the state of the needed revenue to finance development, It is time from every Nigerians that values decency and progress to speak up”.He explained.

He alleged that the deployment of certain security personnel to the state to head SARS was done at the instance of senator Akpabio to prosecute his war-saw-war agenda.

He called on the federal government and relevant authorities to take urgent steps to avoid the return of the evil days in the state.

“We have observed with consternation the deployment of certain security personnel like Mr Idorenyin Akpabio and others, at the instance of senator Akpabio to head the SARS as a precursor to a predetermined agenda, despite the protestation of the governor.

“For the benefit of doubt, we want to state that the said gentleman is a direct relation of Senator Akpabio who we have on good authority has boasted that he will be the arrow head of the fulfillment of war-saw-war prophecy in the state.

“We are calling on the relevant authorities including the presidency to take preemptive steps to avoid the return to the evil days when extra judicial killings, kidnappings and other heinous crime were perpetuated between 2007-2015 in our beloved state.” Okon explained.
