Mrs Zeporah Kendo, Principal, Federal Government Girls College Jalingo Kendo on Saturday advocated sponsorship for students whose parents are less privileged in the society but have the enthusiasm to acquire ‘western education’.

Kendo disclosed this at the 17th Graduation and Prize Giving Day held at the school premises in Jalingo.
She noted that North Eastern Nigeria was lagging behind in terms of student’s enrollment in unity schools all over Nigeria.

The principal called on Non-Governmental Organizations, Civil Society groups and well-meaning individuals to assist by selecting best students from Primary schools in the region for sponsorship.

She added that such would enable the Northeast region to compete favourably with other zones in student’s enrollment.

She appreciated the Federal ministry of education for their unflinching support in the renovation of staff quarters, fencing of the Hadejia and Taraba hostels as well as re-enforcement of the college perimeter fence among others.

She appealed for the construction of water reticulation in the staff quarters and other dilapidated structures in the institution.

“Northeast is lacking behind in student’s enrollment and I am appealing to well-meaning individuals, civil society and NGO’s to assist children of the less privileged. ” By this, Northeast zone will compete favourably with other zones in student’s enrollment nation wide.

“I want to appreciate the Federal ministry of education for their unflinching support, Just like Oliver Twist, “we want more”.“The school is appealing for the construction of additional water reservoirs, renovation of dilapidated classrooms among others,’ He said.
