Fire Disaster Consume Properties Worth Millions Of Naira

In this harmattan season alone, the Sokoto state Fire Service recorded tremendous achievements in the field of fire fighting.

According to the Acting Director General, Muhammad Sani Budah while addressing newsmen in his office said they had recorded over 27 outbreaks during this harmattan season adding that they had many lives with no rescue and lost of lives in all the outbreaks.

Budah further revealed that properties estimated at over N23m were consumed by the disaster including the items at Usman Danfodio University City Campus and other important structures in the metropolis.

While calling on general public to take serious precaution during this harmattan period he called petrol station owners and attendants to always install extinguishers at the sites in order to control the outbreaks before getting out of control.

He similarly called on motorists,drivers and households to also instal extinquishers saying properties worth N50m were saved this year.

“Prevention is better than cure”, he averred.
