17-8-2021Attention: EditorDay Break Newspaper, AbujaBy Isaac Kertyo, Makurdi
The General Manager, Abhumu Global Resources Limited, the firm currently managing the Makurdi Modern Market, Mr Shaakaa Manasseh has disclosed that the company’s Partnership with Benue State Government is to Improve the revenue profile of the market for faster development.

Mr Shaakaa who made this disclosure in Makurdi Tuesday in an interview with Day Break posited that efforts are being stepped up by the firm to build twenty toilets in the market, explaining that the waste generated from the facilities would be transformed into wealth.
He explained further: ” The sheaths from the toilets would be transformed into wealth. You know sheath is a good business, by the time we have toilets there, our intention is to even transform the sheaths into wealth. We are going to convert the tool into fertilizer and other components that are useful.”

The General Manager hinted that renovation work is on going at the burnt portions of the market, stressing that the incident has dwindled the revenue base of the market.

Continuing he noted that: ” As you can see the place close to the First Bank that was burnt since November, 2011  construction work is on going. They are evacuating the deblis that have been gotten from the dilapidated structure. We’re thinking that before the year rounds out, we will erect a new structure in that place.”

The General Manager stated that non combustive materials that could stand heat and fire in case of fire outbreak would be used, adding that by the time the building is put in place, the glory of the market will come back.
His words: ” The primary objective is to ensure that we use non combustive materials because even if there is an incident of fire outbreak, which by God’s grace will not happen again, the building materials that we using will stand even direct heat so that the property of traders will be protected”.

Towards this end, Mr Shaakaa contended that the firm has involved a Federal fire service with a functional van, maintaining that almost all the blocks have fire installation equipment in addition to engaging traders on fire drills where they will be well equipped on how to respond in an event of fire incident.

He lauded the Benue State Government for the supportive role it has been playing which he said has helped them in no small measure. Ends
