Former Nigerian Petroleum Minister Charged with Bribery by UK Police

Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, has been charged by UK police with bribery offenses. It is alleged that she accepted bribes in exchange for granting multi-million-pound oil and gas contracts during her tenure from 2010 to 2015. The charges come after an extensive international investigation. Alison-Madueke is accused of benefiting from cash, luxury vehicles, private jet flights, extravagant family vacations, and the use of multiple London properties. The charges also include rewards such as furniture, property renovations, staff payments, private school fees, and gifts from high-end designer shops. She is scheduled to appear in Westminster Magistrates’ Court on October 2, 2023.
