Support groups backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have called for the appointment of Senator Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari as Director-General of the presidential campaign council for the 2027 election.The call was made in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, during a press conference organised by the Senator Yari Support Network. The group said its members include stakeholders from across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones.
Speaking at the event, National Coordinator Preye Agama described Yari as an experienced politician with nationwide reach, citing his past roles as a member of the House of Representatives, former governor of Zamfara State, and current senator.
Agama said the group believes Yari has the organisational capacity and political experience required to lead a national campaign. Deputy National Coordinator Seiyefa Felix and Southwest representative Tope Fatile also expressed support, describing Yari as capable of coordinating a broad-based campaign.
The endorsement comes ahead of President Tinubu’s planned visit to Bayelsa State for the commissioning of projects by the state government.There has been no official response from the presidency or the ruling party regarding the call at the time of filing this report.
