Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has officially handed over a newly built residential facility to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF). The project will support military welfare and improve security efforts in the state.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the NAF Base in Port Harcourt, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. Governor Fubara said the housing project highlights the importance of supporting the NAF’s efforts.
The project began in 2017 at a cost of N212 million but was later reviewed to N454 million under Governor Fubara’s administration. His government prioritized completing the facility to support Air Force officers.
Governor Fubara said, “It is not only Mr President that will carry this burden. We must also contribute to the welfare of these officers.”
He assured residents that his government would continue supporting security agencies. This includes addressing oil theft and improving the collaboration between security agencies and the state government.
Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, Chief of the Air Staff, praised the project’s completion. He said it demonstrates the strong partnership between Rivers State and the NAF.
Air Commodore Ali Idris, Commander of the 115 Special Operations Group in Port Harcourt, commended Governor Fubara’s leadership. He noted that the housing facility will boost welfare, operational readiness, and civil-military relations.
This project reflects the shared commitment to national security and improving living conditions for Air Force personnel and their families.
