FUTA Pro-Chancellor Senator Daduut Pledges Support for Education at Thanksgiving

By Israel Adamu, Jos

Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Senator Professor Nora Ladi Daduut, has reaffirmed her commitment to supporting quality education for young people in Nigeria.

Speaking at a thanksgiving Mass held in her honor following her appointment as Pro-Chancellor by the Federal Government, Senator Daduut expressed her dedication to ensuring that education remains accessible to all. The service was held at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Kwalla, Quanpan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Daduut, who represented Plateau South Senatorial District in the 9th National Assembly, emphasized that education is the foundation of national development. “Education is the bedrock of any nation’s development, and we must make it attractive to everyone, especially the underprivileged,” she said.

She also outlined plans to collaborate with the Church in her community to prioritize child education, noting that “children are the future of the nation.”

In her address, Daduut underscored the importance of investing in girl-child education, stating that it will significantly contribute to the nation’s progress. “Educating the girl-child provides a platform for her to become an advocate and catalyst for positive change.”

She commended the government’s efforts in improving the education sector but stressed the need for additional support. “The government is doing its best, but we must all contribute to ensure a better society. Every parent should ensure that their child or ward completes both primary and secondary education.”

Senator Daduut called on the private sector and individuals to support the Bola Tinubu administration’s efforts to transform the education sector, noting that the government cannot achieve this goal alone.

She also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for her appointment as Pro-Chancellor and praised the management, staff, students, and stakeholders of FUTA for their contributions to making the institution a leader among Nigerian universities. She promised to do everything possible to further elevate the university.

Daduut extended her appreciation to First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her initiatives aimed at ensuring that every Nigerian child has access to quality education. She also thanked the people of Plateau South for their support during her time in the Senate.

Earlier in the event, the Parish Priest of Saint Patrick’s Church, Rev. Father James Dasat, praised Senator Daduut’s efforts to improve society through education. He highlighted her contributions to enhancing education in the country and urged her to continue being an inspiration to the younger generation.

The thanksgiving event was well-attended by family, friends, and well-wishers of the senator.
