Ganaja Community Elects New Officials, Calls for Government Synergy to Drive Development

By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

The newly elected chairman of the Victory community in Ganaja, Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Kogi State, Comrade John Agada, has called for closer synergy with the government to attract development to the area.

Agada made the appeal shortly after his election, which took place at the Redeem Church of Christ playground over the weekend. He emphasized that no community can thrive without the support of government amenities and infrastructural development.

“I appreciate our elders, the former chairman, and everyone who worked alongside him during his tenure. May God Almighty reward you all for your contributions towards the development of this community,” Agada stated.

The chairman assured the people of Ganaja of his commitment to advancing the community’s development and urged members of the newly elected executive committee to remain focused on achieving good governance and people-oriented programs.

On security, Agada highlighted the importance of an inclusive approach to fighting criminality, involving the local vigilante groups, landlords, and tenants. He stressed the need for a strong security framework to curb criminal activities in the area.

“We are committed to serving the community without fear or favor,” Agada said, thanking the community for the opportunity to serve. “We promise to justify the confidence placed in us.”

Comrade Umar Angulu, the newly elected secretary, called for collective collaboration, constructive criticism, and innovative ideas to restore the community’s former glory. He noted, “Responsibility is a burden for those who stand to lead; many were present, but few were chosen. This doesn’t make the few champions, but it is a call to service.”

Angulu also expressed gratitude for the successful election, saying, “We wish to profoundly express our unreserved gratitude first to the ‘Most High God’ for His timely intervention in our lives, making this election a reality for the Victory community.”

He also thanked the outgoing executive committee, particularly former chairman Mr. Vincent Abakpa, and acknowledged the contributions of the Zonal chairmen and community leaders, including retired Director Mr. Nuhu Baba, for their spiritual and practical support.

The newly elected officials are:

  • Mr. John Agada – Chairman
  • Mallam Sheidu Bello – Vice Chairman
  • Comrade Umar Yunusa Angulu – Secretary General
  • Eric Musa – Financial Secretary
  • Mr. Usman Ocholi – Treasurer
  • Ademu Achimugu – Public Relations Officer

These newly elected officials have promised to work together to move Ganaja community forward, focusing on sustainable development, unity, and improved living conditions for all.
