Ganaja Community Elects New Officials, Seeks Government Partnership for Development

By Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

The Victory community in Ganaja, Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State, has elected new officials, with Comrade John Agada emerging as the chairman. Following the election, which was held at the Redeem Church of Christ playground, Agada emphasized the need for collaboration with the government to foster development in the area.

A Call for Development

In his post-election speech, Agada stressed the importance of government involvement in providing essential amenities and infrastructure for the community’s progress.

“No community can thrive without the support of government amenities and infrastructural development,” Agada noted, expressing gratitude to the outgoing chairman and elders for their contributions to the community.

The chairman reaffirmed his commitment to the community’s development and urged the new executive committee to focus on people-oriented programs and effective governance.

Strengthening Security

Agada highlighted the importance of robust security measures, advocating for a collaborative approach involving local vigilantes, landlords, and tenants to curb criminal activities.

“We are committed to serving the community without fear or favor. Together, we will ensure the safety and development of Ganaja,” he assured.

A Call for Unity

The newly elected secretary, Comrade Umar Angulu, called for collective collaboration and innovative ideas to restore the community’s former glory.

“Responsibility is a burden for those chosen to lead. It’s a call to service, not a status of privilege,” Angulu stated. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and commended the outgoing officials for their dedication.

Leadership Transition

Angulu and other members of the executive committee praised the contributions of former chairman Mr. Vincent Abakpa and other community leaders, including retired Director Mr. Nuhu Baba, for their guidance and support during the transition.

Newly Elected Officials

The elected officials include:

  • Mr. John Agada – Chairman
  • Mallam Sheidu Bello – Vice Chairman
  • Comrade Umar Yunusa Angulu – Secretary General
  • Eric Musa – Financial Secretary
  • Mr. Usman Ocholi – Treasurer
  • Ademu Achimugu – Public Relations Officer

Moving Forward

The new leadership has pledged to work collectively to advance the Ganaja community through sustainable development, improved living conditions, and unity among residents.

The Victory community looks forward to a new era of progress under the guidance of its newly elected officials.
