Ganduje accused of selling government building to Son in Kano

I’m not aware of transaction, can’t comments on it – State AG

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Kano state transition committee of Governor -elect, has accused the outgoing Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of allegedly selling Kano State Public Procurement Bureau office popularly called Due Process Office to his son (name withheld).

The office located in the State capital, was reportedly sold at the ridiculous cost of N10 million, to the son who later resold the buildings for over N300 million

The chairman of the Recovery of Public Assets Subcommittee of the NNPP Gubernatorial Transition, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, who led other members of the committee to the buildings allegedly sold, stated that the continued selling of government property could be described as an injustice to the teeming masses of the State

He warned that the incoming Governor-elect Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, would set up necessary committee, not only to recovered the illegal selling of government buildings, lands and other property but would also prosecute the buyers.

Dr .Bichi, while addressing the pressmen during the visit said, ”We are deeply worried, the manner in which the outgoing administration is mortgaging the common franchise of the good people of Kano State that leaves much to be desired

He hinted that the act , ”Is akin to vandalization of every structure of governance”, adding that this is not what is expected of a government that was given the opportunity to rule the state for eight years.

”This place (Due Process Office) was sold for less than N10 million and we are aware that the boy has sold it for over N300 million. You are literally giving him the place free of charge and asking him to go and get a buyer”, he said

According to him, “We feel that this is the most unfortunate destruction of public property that anybody could ever imagine”.

Dr. Bichi noted that “What they are doing is just a drama. The real game is going to start from May 29.
Reacting to the allegation, when contacted, the State Attorney General (DG), Musa Abdullahi Lawal, said he is not aware of the Transaction and he cannot comment on what he don’t have knowledge of.

Speaking in the same vein, the State Commissioner for Information and former NUJ national president, Mallam Mohammed Garba also explained that he was not in the picture of the transaction but promised to make inquiries and get back to the pressmen.
