Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, has lauded Officers of the Nigerian Army over their prompt response towards tackling security challenges rocking Benue State.
The Governor gave the commendation at the Government House Makurdi, when the Chief of Army Staff, Mojor General Taoreed Lagbaja, paid a courtesy visit to him, stressing that Benue State looks forward to more of such prompt responses.
In a statement by his Principal Special Assistant on Media, Mr Isaac Uzaan, Governor Alia noted that Benue and few other states were in the front line of insecurity, adding that the presence of the Chief of Army Staff was an indication that peace will soon be restored.
In his remarks, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, assured that troops will soon be deployed to Benue State to ensure that peace returns in Sankera and other parts of the state.
The Chief of Army Staff, stressed that the Nigerian Army will work assiduously to facilitate resettlement of the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in the state.
