Gov Alia Flags Off Construction of Township Roads in Makurdi

Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia has flagged off construction of sixteen township roads within Makurdi Metropolis.

The Governor who performed the ceremony on Monday in Makurdi contended that the roads would improve transportation network within the capital city, stressing that the projects would stimulate economic growth among others.

He pointed out that the flag off of the roads construction was a significant step towards achieving his target of providing quality infrastructure for the people.

“The construction of the sixteen township roads, which is monumental, marks a significant milestone in our commitment to provide infrastructural development in Benue State. This is to prepare a foundation for a new Benue of our dreams as we mark our first 100 days in office”.

The Governor continued: ” A good road network is the lifeline of any thriving city and Makurdi is not an exception. These well designed roads with there asphalt surfaces, concrete drainages and culverts will improve transportation and connectivity within the city, boost economic activities and enhance the over all quality of life for our citizens.”

The Governor charged the contractor to deliver the 15.39 kilometer road projects within the stipulated time of eleven months.

Also speaking, the Covering Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Transport, Mr Nic Joko pledged to ensure strict supervision and inspection of the projects awarded to Triacter Nigeria Limited by the present administration.

Joko who is the Director, Administration and Supply in the ministry said during the launch of construction of the roads at the keke NAPEP, wurukum Makurdi that he was delighted with the take off of the projects as a fulfilment of Governor Alia’s campaign promises to Benue citizens.
