Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, has charged the newly inaugurated Chairman and Commissioners of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, BESIEC, to conduct free, fair and credible local government polls.
The Governor who gave the charge at the Government House Makurdi, during the inauguration of the Chairman and Members of the Commission, Implored them to set the ball rolling by commencing the processes of conducting local government elections.
Governor Alia who assured them of his administration’s commitment to upholding the independence of the Commission, called on Benue citizens to support the State Electoral Empire to ensure success in the democratic processes in the state.
“I entrust upon you the responsibility of ensuring the consolidation of democracy at this vital level by conducting elections that are free, fair and credible, accurately reflecting the will and aspirations of the good people of Benue State.
“I want to assure you of government’s commitment to upholding the independence of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission. You can count on the full support of government in the discharge of your duties.
Responding, the Chairman, Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, BESIEC, Dr John Chen, assured that they won’t disappoint the people of Benue State in the course of their duties.
