Gov. Dickson fires Special Adviser

Governor Seriake Dickson, on Thursday, fired his Special Adviser on Talent and Gender Development, Mrs. Helen Bob due to the events unfolding after the Bayelsa Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election.

The development which was announced in a statement by Mr Fidelis Soriwei, Chief Press Secretary to Dickson in Yenagoa, said Bob, a former Chairman of Brass Local Government Area in Bayelsa, was relieved of her duties for gross misconduct and indiscipline.

Bob who had supported Rep. Fred Agbedi during the governorship primary election had continued to criticise the PDP over the election, stressing that its outcome was killing the party.

“Mrs. Helen Bob was dismissed for repeated acts of gross misconduct, indiscipline, irresponsibility and acts unbecoming of a person occupying the high position of special adviser in any government whatsoever.

“Mrs.Bob who has been a special adviser for almost eight years, was among 130 special advisers out of over 2,000 appointees engaged by the governor to render necessary services to the state and to give a sense of belonging and legitimate support to party members.

“The Governor wishes her well in her political eandeavours,” Soriwei stated.

Bob in a reaction said that he was not surprised by the development and expressed gratitude to Dickson for giving her the opportunity to serve adding that she was happy to have stood for the truth.

“Frankly speaking I am a woman of truth and will always stand by it.

“Gov Seriake Dickson has done very well not to have ignored my comments which of course i know must have touched his heart. And the gods of the Land will be so proud of a true izon daughter.

“Truth is very, very bitter.

“This is not a surprise at all for making me a political heroine who at least stood strong to comment on the excesses of our great party leadership against some members.

“Sincerely it’s already late as no amount of sack will stop me from stating the truth.

“No amount of sack will stop the flood that is about to submerge the PDP come Nov 16th, 2019 if the party does not take a strong redress on all the issues I have raised concerns on,” Bob said.
