The 18-hole Ibom Golf Course is set to receive a significant makeover, as Governor Umo Eno has approved turnaround maintenance for the facility in anticipation of the upcoming yuletide season.

In a recent announcement in Uyo, State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Charles Udoh, stated that this maintenance will restore the golf course’s former glory, benefiting golfers, tourists, and visitors by reinforcing its status as the premier golfing destination in the region.

Udoh explained that the maintenance work will include tendering the golf holes and lawns, planting new grass, and performing comprehensive environmental maintenance. This initiative aims to revive the lush greenery that attracts holiday seekers and tourists alike.

The state government has engaged Equatorial Parks and Premises Limited, a high-profile golf course maintenance company, to carry out the turnaround work. This is particularly timely as the Christmas Unplugged Season 2.0 celebrations approach, which is expected to draw a significant influx of visitors to Akwa Ibom.

According to the commissioner, golfers will enjoy playing in a well-maintained environment, while visitors and tourists will have the opportunity to stroll through the breathtaking surroundings for relaxation.

With the turnaround maintenance underway, the government hopes to generate a beehive of activities around the golf course, given its proximity to notable attractions such as Ibom Hotels, the Ibom Marina Resort, and the Slave Trade Memorial Park, which houses a 178-year-old slave master’s boat.
