Gov Eno lauds predecessors, commends Enoidem on elevation to SAN

By Ogenyi Ogenyi,Uyo

For laying the foundation for sustainable development of the state at the return of democracy in 1999, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom has extolled the virtues of previous Governors of the state, especially Obong Victor Attah, who recently rounded off activities marking his 85th birthday celebration.

Speaking at a special Thanksgiving Mass, held in his honour at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, Dominic Utuk Avenue, Uyo, the state capital, Eno, expressed gratitude to God for making Attah, a pillar of strength with strong passion and vision for Akwa Ibom development.

In the same vein, the Governor, who on Sunday attended a special thanksgiving/welcome service in honour of his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel, and his wife, Dr. Martha, at the United Evangelical Church, formerly Qua Iboe Church, Lagos Township Superintendency, recalled the former governor’s strides, noting that such feats have gone a long way in democratic consolidation and growth of the state.

He expressed delight that he was able to join Obong Attah at the Thanksgiving Mass, given his valuable contribution to the development and growth of the state during his era (1999 – 2097).

According to him, “today, we join the family of HE, Obong Attah, to thank God who has made him to be 85 years and a pillar of strength to us all. When Obong Attah was Governor, he was the one who made my company, Royalty Hotel, what it is; because most of the retreats we had in the state then were held in Royalty Hotels.”

Meanwhile, the Governor has congratulated a former National PDP Legal Adviser, Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, on his elevation to the rank of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

A congratulatory message signed by Eno Monday in Uyo said the selection of the former state Housing and Lands Commissioner was a testament of his professionalism and contribution to the legal profession in Nigeria.

“On behalf of the government and the good people of Akwa Ibom State, I celebrate you on your well-deserved elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN.

“Your selection amongst the best minds in your profession, is a clear testament of your sterling professional bonafides as a prodigious legal luminary.

“We are convinced that with this recognition, the temple of justice in Nigeria would be further enriched and you will continue to fight for those issues you hold dear in your heart.Once again, hearty congratulations our brand new Senior Advocate of Nigeria.” The statement said.

Enoidem was among 58 eminent lawyers who were on Monday conferred with SAN by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariiwola at the Supreme Court on Monday.
