Gov Eno probes LG projects in A’Ibom

By Ogenyi Ogenyi,Uyo

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom has constituted verification teams to verify and evaluate projects executed by Local Government Transition Committees across the 31 council areas in the state.

It would be recalled that Eno constituted the Transition Committee after the expiration of tenure of office of Chairmen and Councillors six months ago pending when elections would be conducted in the councils.

It was gathered that local government allocations have improved in the last six months which instigated the governor to evaluate council helmsmen and their members to justify huge funds allocated to them .

The Governor had visited all the Councils for fact findings but apparently not satisfied has now gone ahead to constitute another verification team whose report could guide him on any future decision.

The list of the Verification Team endorsed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Mr Enobong Uwah and made available to newsmen on Tuesday showed that three Commissioners, an Assembly member and a Permanent Secretary constitute each team to verify a group of councils.

The statement said the six teams have the mandate to verify local government projects and authenticate them.
