Gov. Ishaku flags off distribution and sale of fertilizers, and agro inputs

Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state has stated that provision of inputs including the vital requirement of fertilizers, seeds, machines and by governments are boosting large scale farming.

The Governor disclosed this on Wednesday while speaking at the official flag off of distribution and sales of fertilizers  and other Agro inputs for the twenty nineteen cropping season.

Governor Ishaku said the state Government deemed it necessary to give the desired attention to Agriculture due to its critical role as a major source of income to the majority of the people of the state.

The governor stressed that he was encouraged and motivated to purchase additional assorted fertilizers, certified rice seeds, thirty tractors for sales at a subsidized rate to farmers, cooperative groups and one hundred mini tractors for twenty nineteen cropping season due to the successes recorded in the twenty eighteen season.

The Governor warned all farmers against the diversion and sales of the commodity saying anyone found guilty will not be spared no matter how highly placed.

He approved the sales of NPK  fifty Kg bag fertilizer at four thousand five hundred naira, Urea fifty Kg bag at five thousand five hundred naira and mini tractor at four hundred and fifty thousand naira.

Earlier, Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural resources David Ishaya Kassa said the primary responsibilities of the Ministry of Agriculture is to provide inputs to farmers and also guide them appropriately on the best usage and application of the input to respective farms.

The commissioner thanked Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku for the desired attention given to Agriculture saying the gesture will no doubt turn around the fortunes of farmers across the state.

Kassa, called on farmers to make the best use of the opportunity given to them by the Governor in making sure that the laudable efforts did not become a futile exercise.

On his part, Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria AFAN Taraba State Chapter Bala Aji, congratulated Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku on his victory in the just concluded gubernatorial election.

Bala Aji avered that AFAN has enjoyed a cordial working relationship with the Governor who has continued to provide fertilizers at a subsidized rate and other farming inputs promising the resolve of farmers to maintain peace in the state.
