Gov Mutfwang pledge judicial reforms, business friendly atmosphere in Plateau

By Isreal Adamu, Jos
Plateau State Governor, Caleb  Mutfwang, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing judicial reforms that promote civility and ensure a smooth administration of criminal justice in the state.
Governor Mutfwang stated this during a courtesy visit by officials and stakeholders of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Jos Branch, at the Old Government House, Jos.
A statement signed by Bere Gyang, his director of press and public affairs reads that Governor Caleb  expressed concern over the challenges facing the state’s criminal justice system, particularly the congestion in correctional facilities.
The Governor assured that the Office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice will roll out strategic plans to strengthen the justice system.
Congratulating the newly elected Chairman of the NBA Jos Branch, Barr. Leah Dagun Hassan, on her election, Governor Mutfwang pledged his administration’s partnership with the NBA to restore sanity, justice, and fairness in Plateau State.
In her remarks, Barr. Leah Dagun Hassan commended the Governor for his continued support of the NBA and his commitment to infrastructural development and policies aimed at cushioning the effects of subsidy removal. She pledged the NBA’s collaboration with the government to create an enabling environment for business and development in the state.
Similarly, Governor Mutfwang hosted the Executive Council Members of the Nigeria Fellowship of Evangelical Students (NIFES). He commended their role in raising and grooming leaders who serve as exemplary role models in both the church and society.
The Governor lauded NIFES for its contributions to tackling societal challenges such as drug abuse and the spread of HIV/AIDS among youths. He emphasized the need for more training and awareness campaigns on youth-related issues and hinted at plans for a sustainable government-backed drug rehabilitation initiative.
“I recognize your efforts in shaping young minds, controlling the spread of AIDS, and addressing youth-related vices. These are areas we are deeply passionate about as a government, and we are committed to finding lasting solutions,” Governor Mutfwang stated.
The National Director of NIFES, Pastor Rex Onuh, praised Governor Mutfwang’s dedication to public service and identified him as one of their own. He highlighted NIFES’ mission to raise leaders who uphold good governance and align societal progress with biblical principles.
Governor Mutfwang also attended the “Enchanting Plateau” exhibition, an exhibition of Plateau State’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. The event featured artworks highlighting the state’s tourism sites.
Expressing delight at what he saw, the Governor encouraged the younger generation to change the narrative of Plateau State and position it as a global tourism destination.
“I am thrilled to be part of the Enchanting Plateau exhibition, which celebrates our cultural heritage and natural beauty. Plateau State is a treasure to be cherished, promoted, and shared with the world. Let us rise above bitterness, abandon the pull-him-down mentality, and work together to make Plateau a beacon of peace and progress,” Governor Mutfwang remarked.
The General Manager of the Plateau State Tourism Corporation, Mr. Chuwang Pwajok, welcomed dignitaries and emphasized the event’s objective of showcasing the state’s tourism potential to the global audience.
