Gov Mutfwang’s Re-election, Most Noble Ambition for Plateau — Commissioner Ephraim Usman Gar

By Israel Adamu, Jos

The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Chief Ephraim Usman Gar, has described the re-election bid of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang as the most noble and urgent political ambition for Plateau State.

Chief Usman Gar made this known during the official launch of the VOTCA Movement—an acronym for Vote Caleb Again–at his residence in Jos, declaring that ensuring Governor Mutfwang’s return in 2027 is a patriotic duty and a call to consolidate the state’s progress.

“There is no ambition more important, more urgent, or more noble than ensuring the re-election of Governor Mutfwang,” he stated.

The Commissioner praised Governor Mutfwang as “a rare gift to the state,” noting his clarity of purpose, unity-driven governance, and bold leadership through turbulent political times.
He highlighted key achievements of the administration, including:

– Infrastructure renewal and expansion,
– Human capital development,
– Efforts toward unity and social cohesion across ethnic and political divides.

“It would be a monumental setback for Plateau to derail from this progressive path. God forbid!” he warned.

Chief Usman Gar added that a second term for Governor Mutfwang would allow him to consolidate his transformative agenda aimed at restoring Plateau’s lost glory and positioning it among Nigeria’s most progressive states.

Quoting from scripture, he said:

“As for me and my house, we have chosen to follow the path of progress, unity, and development under the leadership of His Excellency, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang.”

Addressing questions on his rumored senatorial ambition for Plateau Central, the Commissioner clarified that his focus remains on Mutfwang 2027, emphasizing that personal ambition must yield to collective progress.

“Whatever ambition I have is fully aligned with consolidating the strides of His Excellency. The collective project now is Mutfwang 2027—nothing else supersedes that.”

The event was attended by PDP Ward Two stakeholders from Mangu, including the ward chairman and councillor, who described the Commissioner’s initiative as timely, noble, and sacrificial.

As political activities gather pace ahead of the 2027 elections, Chief Usman Gar’s declaration is seen as the first major rallying point for the governor’s re-election movement—anchored on unity, continuity, and good governance.
