The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, on Friday approved N316 million for bursary payments to 8,750 undergraduate students from the state who have been cleared for the disbursement.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, revealed this during the presentation of a complimentary cheque to Miss Favour Oluwatimilayo Toyin Adebayo, a Kogi State indigene studying on a state-sponsored scholarship in Poland.
Miss Favour, who earned the scholarship while studying at Nasarawa State University through an exchange program, received a complimentary cheque of N5 million from the State Government to support her studies abroad.
Additionally, the State Government has approved bursary payments of N300,000 each for Kogi students enrolled in various law schools across the country. A total of 201 law students have been cleared for the bursary, amounting to N60.3 million.
Mr. Afolabi Joseph Raji, the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Scholarship Board, stated that the State Government remains committed to ensuring every Kogi student achieves academic success and contributes meaningfully to society.
He further explained that the scholarship provided to Miss Favour is intended to cover tuition, accommodation, and other essential needs, reflecting the State Government’s dedication to the welfare and educational advancement of its students.
