Gov. Ododo Mourns Etsu Bassa Nge, HRH Abu Ali, Describes Him as Pillar of Peace and Unity

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has expressed profound grief over the death of His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Abu Ali, the Etsu of Bassa Nge Kingdom and former Military Governor of Bauchi State.In a condolence message issued in Lokoja by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, the governor said the news of the monarch’s passing was received with deep sadness. He described the late Etsu Bassa Nge as a distinguished military officer, a father figure, and a stabilizing force whose leadership greatly contributed to peace and unity in Kogi State and the nation.Governor Ododo praised the late monarch’s discipline, wisdom, and lifelong dedication to public service. He noted that HRH Abu Ali’s wise counsel and unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of his people made him a respected royal father and a unifying voice across communities.“

I recall the dignified and majestic leadership of His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Abu Ali, whose wise counsel and unwavering commitment to the unity of our state consistently provided guidance and strength to our people,” the governor said. “His selfless service and towering presence will be deeply missed, even as we submit to the will of Almighty Allah and give thanks for a life lived in service to humanity.”

Ododo described the late Etsu as a symbol of exemplary leadership whose reign brought stability and progress to the Bassa Nge Kingdom. He prayed for the peaceful repose of his soul and urged his family, the Bassa Nge people, and all who mourn him to take solace in his enduring legacy of humility, wisdom, and service.The late Alhaji Abu Ali, a retired Brigadier General, served as Military Governor of Bauchi State from September 1990 to January 1992. He remained an influential national figure until his passing on Monday, November 24, 2025, at the age of 82.
