Gov Ortom condemns burning of Obasanjo’s farms

Police arrest four Suspects

Four Suspects have been reportedly apprehended by Security Operatives over the burning of Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo’s Orchard Farm in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State.

It was learned that security agents are on trail of more persons suspected to be responsible for the heinous act with the aim to fish them out of their hiding places to  face Justice.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom who condemned the incident in its entirety after receiving report from the Chairman of Gwer Local Government Council, Mr Emmanuel Ortserga, described the act as the height of irresponsibility to set ablaze a farm that was set up to boost the economy of the state.

The Governor who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary Nathaniel Kyur, said no amount of sabotage would be allowed to thwart Government’s efforts at encouraging local and foriegn investors in the state.

Ortom noted that as the former President of Nigeria, Chief Obasanjo deserves respect in any part of the country, stressing that Benue State cannot be an exception.

 He directed the Commissioner of Police in the state to find the root cause of the dasterdly act and ensure that the Perpetrators were arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

According to the Governor, half of the mango farm covering over 139 hecters of land has been burned down. Ends
