Gov. Yusuf Appoints Dr. Aminu Magashi as Technical Adviser for Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation Ministry

In a landmark move to bolster humanitarian and poverty alleviation efforts in Kano State, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has appointed Dr. Aminu Magashi Garba as the Technical Adviser for the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

The appointment, effective September 28, 2024, was announced on Tuesday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa. Governor Yusuf praised Dr. Magashi’s outstanding qualifications, emphasizing his long-standing dedication to public service and his commitment to improving the lives of underserved communities in Kano.

Governor Yusuf’s decision reflects his trust in Dr. Magashi’s extensive experience and leadership skills, recognizing him as an essential partner in achieving the administration’s humanitarian goals.

With over 30 years in development and humanitarian work, Dr. Magashi has led various impactful initiatives. His notable roles include Chair of the AMG Foundation, Head of the Health Policy and Planning Committee for the Nigerian Medical Association, and the pioneering coordinator of the Kano State Cancer Care Center.

Dr. Magashi’s strategic insights and leadership were also instrumental as Chairman of the health transition committee, where he collaborated with Governor Yusuf to establish a transformative agenda for Kano State’s healthcare sector. Additionally, he led the technical committee that helped develop Governor Yusuf’s campaign blueprint in 2022.

Through this appointment, Kano State gains a dedicated adviser whose perseverance, integrity, and vision have defined his career. Dr. Magashi is expected to guide the ministry in crafting impactful strategies that address the urgent needs of Kano’s communities, paving the way for a more compassionate and resilient future for all.
