Gov. Zulum Inaugurates Three Health Sector Boards, Orders Overhaul of Healthcare Service

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has inaugurated three new boards in the health sector and directed a comprehensive overhaul of the state’s healthcare service delivery. A statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Abdurrahman Bundi, on Thursday highlighted that the event took place at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Maiduguri. The newly inaugurated boards include the Borno State Hospital Management Board, the Borno State Primary Healthcare Development Board, and the Kashim Ibrahim University Teaching Hospital Management Board. These boards have been tasked with overseeing initiatives aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery. Governor Zulum outlined his vision for the sector, emphasizing reforms to address challenges such as inadequate facilities, insufficient staffing, and the lack of essential medical supplies in some health facilities. “We are currently facing pressure on our secondary health facilities due to weaknesses in primary healthcare. I urge you to assess each hospital individually and identify all problems related to staffing, equipment, and medical supplies so that we can tackle these issues comprehensively,” Zulum said. Additionally, the governor inaugurated the Borno State Local Government Service Commission Board, which comprises the Chairman and four permanent commissioners. In their remarks, the Chairman of the Kashim Ibrahim University Teaching Hospital Management Board, Professor Ahmed Ahidjo, and the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Alhaji Modu Alhaji Musa, expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity and pledged to justify the confidence placed in them. **End**
