Gov Zulum reappoints BSUBEB Executive Chairman for 2nd term

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has reappointed Professor Bulama Kagu as the Executive Chairman of the Borno State Universal Basic Education Board (BSUBEB) for a second and final term.

The reappointment, which takes effect on October 18, 2024, was officially announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Alh. Bukar Tijani, a statement released on Saturday by SSA on New Media Abgurrahman Bundi has revealed.

The decision, the statement added, followed Prof. Kagu’s outstanding performance during his first tenure, which brought significant improvements to basic education programs in the state.

In the letter conveying the reappointment, Governor Zulum praised Prof. Kagu’s leadership and the reforms he implemented, expressing confidence that he would continue to drive further progress in the sector during his second term.

The Governor’s reappointment underscores the administration’s commitment to consolidating the gains achieved in Borno’s education sector.

Prof. Kagu’s reappointment is expected to sustain ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening the state’s Universal Basic Education system.

“Prof. Bulama Kagu is a seasoned counselling psychologist and educationist. He began his academic career at the University of Maiduguri in December 1990 as a Graduate Assistant, rising to the rank of Professor in 2007.

“With expertise in counselling and educational psychology, he has published over 50 scholarly articles and supervised numerous master’s and doctoral theses. Over the years, he has held key positions at the University, including Head of the Department of Education and Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies”, it stated.
