The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has congratulated Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, on his appointment as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, Governor Ododo described the appointment as a recognition of excellence, merit, and national inclusiveness in leadership.
“The Government and people of Kogi State express profound appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for appointing Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, a distinguished son of Kogi State, as the new Chairman of INEC,” the statement read.
Governor Ododo said the appointment reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening democratic institutions through the selection of competent and credible individuals.
He described Prof. Amupitan as a renowned legal scholar, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, and respected administrator, whose integrity, impartiality, and intellectual depth will greatly enhance the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral system.
“This appointment is a strong validation of President Tinubu’s commitment to excellence and merit. Prof. Amupitan’s illustrious career stands as a testament to his capacity for fairness, integrity, and sound judgment—qualities vital to advancing our democracy,” the statement added.
The Governor assured that the government and people of Kogi State are confident that Prof. Amupitan will justify the confidence reposed in him and bring honour to both the state and the nation through his leadership at INEC.
“We heartily congratulate Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, on this well-deserved national assignment and pray for divine wisdom, strength, and success as he assumes this critical responsibility,” the statement concluded.
