Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Monday distributed 49 security patrol vehicles to various agencies in Lokoja as part of renewed efforts to enhance security and combat criminal activities across the state. The initiative reinforces the state government’s ongoing investment in modernizing its security architecture.
Speaking during the presentation, Governor Ododo emphasized that improving security in Kogi requires collective responsibility. He noted that the deployment of the new vehicles marks another step in the government’s deliberate strategy to strengthen operational capacity.
According to the governor, the recent improvements in security are directly linked to continuous training, equipment upgrades, and stronger collaboration among stakeholders. “Your sacrifices and contributions reflect a deep understanding that security is a shared responsibility, and we are beginning to see the results of our deliberate investment in training and modernizing the security framework of our state,” he said.
Governor Ododo also expressed appreciation to citizens who have donated vehicles and other resources to support the security sector, describing their contributions as a sign of growing public commitment to safeguarding communities. He further thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as consistent support to the state. “Mr. President has been very wonderful to us in Kogi State. We appreciate him and will continue to show gratitude,” he added.
The governor commended the synergy among security agencies, led by the Commissioner of Police, noting that their collaboration has significantly curtailed criminal activities in recent months. He urged the agencies to use the newly distributed vehicles strictly for operational purposes.
The distribution included 12 refurbished vehicles, 10 donated vehicles, and 27 motorcycles, all allocated to support surveillance, rapid response, and community-level patrol operations.
Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Omeiza Umar (rtd), praised Governor Ododo’s leadership and described the gesture as a demonstration of his unwavering commitment to securing the state. “This is a practical demonstration of the governor’s commitment to ensuring that every corner of Kogi State remains secure,” he said.
AVM Umar assured that the Trust Fund would continue mobilizing resources to meet the operational needs of security agencies. He highlighted the newly established logistics hub as a significant step toward improving coordination and strengthening field operations.
He appealed to government agencies, private organizations, and individuals to support the Trust Fund, stressing that collective contributions are essential for sustaining long-term security progress. “Together, we can build a stronger foundation for the safety and security of our state,” he noted.
The distribution of the 49 security patrol vehicles marks another phase in the state’s efforts to enhance security, reinforcing Kogi’s commitment to protecting lives and property.
