Group Donates Health Clubs Materials To Sokoto Government

Sokoto State government has received School Health Clubs materials from the Plan International Aspire Project for onward distribution to some selected junior and Senior Secondary Schools across the state.

The handing over ceremony was held at the Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar Multipurpose Hall of Government Girls College Sokoto.

Receiving the items the state Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education Muhammad Tukur Alkali described the kind gesture as complement to the commitment of the present administration in education.

The Commissioner who was represented by the Director Quality Assurance of the State Arabic and Islamic Education Board Muhammad Sani Usman charged all the benefiting Schools to make judicious utilization of the materials.

Earlier in her welcome address the Sexual and Reproductive Health Officer of Plan International Hajiya Fatima Rabo explained that 127 junior and Senior Secondary Schools were supported by Plan International Aspire project with the materials.

Hajiya Fatima Rabo revealed that apart from the distribution of the materials Plan International had trained large number of teachers and members of SBMCs on issues concerning Sexual and Reproductive health.

Dr Raphael Aworinde who is the Senior health Coordinator of Plan International opined that with the presentation of such materials activities of health clubs in schools would be fully revive.

In their seperate goodwill massages, Executive Secretaries Teachers Service Board A’ishatu Zarummai and that of Female Education Board Prof Mustafa Namakka, Director Quality Assurance SUBEB Umar Sanyinna and representative of SBMC Engineer Nuhu Umar Jabo appreciated the foresight of Plan International for the kind gesture and assured of their readiness to monitor the usage of the materials in all benefiting schools.

In a vote of thanks on behalf of benefiting Schools, State president of ANCORPS who is also the Principal of SAC Muhammad Ikililu thanked Plan International for the support and pledged to ensure judicious utilization of the materials for the realization of the set goals.
