The National President of the Egume-Ome Descendants Union (EODU) in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, , has warned youths in Egume and its environs against engaging in violence, regardless of provocation.
Maji gave the warning while speaking to journalists in , stressing that authorities would not tolerate any disruption of public or private activities.
He assured that the union would continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders and security agencies to identify individuals who might exploit peaceful demonstrations to perpetrate criminal acts.
The warning follows a recent incident in which armed Fulani herders allegedly attacked Oko-Dudu community, killing a farmer identified as Eikwu Sule at Adumu-Egume in Dekina Local Government Area.
Describing the incident as a grave provocation, Maji said the union strongly condemned the killing and had called on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure justice for the victim.
He added that the union’s leadership has been working closely with security operatives to track down those responsible for the attack.
The EODU president urged parents, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders to caution youths against taking the law into their own hands, noting that the community should allow security agencies to handle the matter.
“Let it be on record that after this warning, any individual or group found instigating crisis will have themselves to blame,” he said.
Maji also assured the Onu Egume, , of the union’s commitment to working closely with the traditional institution to promote peace, unity, and development in the community.
