No fewer than 11 socio-political groups have declared support for the re-election of Bola Tinubu in 2027 and the governorship ambition of former Nigerian envoy to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Tunji Ishola, in Ogun State.
The endorsements were announced on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Abeokuta, where the groups described Tinubu as a committed leader driving economic reforms and infrastructure development.
They also praised Ishola’s experience, citing his previous roles as Minister of Mines and Steel Development and Secretary to the Ogun State Government, and expressed confidence in his capacity to lead the state.
Speaking at the event, representatives of the groups urged residents to support both Tinubu’s second-term bid and Ishola’s governorship ambition, describing them as capable of delivering sustained development.
An APC chieftain, Joju Fadairo, also backed Ishola, noting that consultations had been held with key stakeholders, including Olusegun Obasanjo and the Alake of Egbaland, Adedotun Gbadebo.
In his remarks, Ishola said the gathering was not a formal declaration of his ambition but aimed at fostering unity and political harmony in the state. He emphasised the need to end divisions and promote continuity in governance.
He also reiterated support for Tinubu, stating that ongoing economic reforms and policy decisions under the current administration justify a second term.
