Barely a week after gunmen attacked and killed traders at the Abaji market in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, armed Militiamen yesterday attacked St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Aye-Twar village, Agu center, Katsina-Ala and murdered a Priest, Reverend Father Nguban Fanen along side other Parishioners.
The Police Public Relation’s Officer, Benue State Command, DSP Sewuese Anene while confirming the incident disclosed that the late Priest was shot dead at his parish house and not during church service.
The Police Spokesperson hinted that the corpse of the deceased Rev. Fr. has been deposited at General Hospital Katsina-Ala.
He maintained that a joint operation of Police and other security operatives have been deployed to the area and are currently on the trail of the hoodlums.
Day Break learned that the armed Militiamen who are over 2000 in number are on a revenge mission over what they termed as betrayal by some stakeholders of the area which led to the killing of the Militia gang leader, Mr Terwase Akwaza otherwise referred to as Gana.
The bandits who are currently rocking the Sankera axis comprising Katsina-Ala, Ukum and Logo Local Government Areas have vowed to make the place ungovernable.
