Gunmen Kill 13, Injure Others in Plateau’s Bokkos LGA

By Israel Adamu, Jos

Gunmen have killed 13 people, mostly women and children, in a fresh attack on Juwan village, Tangur District of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State.

Chairman of the Community Peace Observers in Bokkos, Mr. Kefas Mallai, confirmed the incident, saying the attack occurred around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

“People were going about peacefully when gunmen suddenly appeared and opened fire,” he said. “Thirteen bodies were found this morning. They didn’t burn houses—just shot anyone vulnerable, especially women and children.”

The Chairman of Bokkos LGA, Hon. Samuel Amalau, also confirmed the attack, describing it as a tragic incident. He said some victims are receiving treatment in various hospitals.

According to Mallai, security personnel were alerted but arrived after the attackers had fled. Efforts to reach security agencies for comment were unsuccessful as of press time
