Gunmen Killed Mobile Police, Carted away with AK-47 Rifle in Kaduna

A Police mobile Officer was reportedly shot to death, and his rifle carted away by unknown gunmen on Saturday night along Jos street in Kafanchan, the headquarters of Jema’a local government area of Kaduna State.

The Police Officer, identified as Sgt. John Auta, was said to have been working at Wonderland Hotel Anex in Ogbomoso Street, were the Kafanchan Divisional Police Officer DPO, lodges.

A source, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed to journalists that the victim was ordered by the DPO to take a suspect who was apprehended smoking Indian hemp to the Divisional headquarters.

The source said while the Police Officer was on his way back from the Station on foot, he was shot to death, and his corpse was later discovered by some Police Officers on Patrol duty.

Contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalige, said, he has no report of the incident but promised to get back with the details.
