Harry Kane Equals Frank Lampard’s Champions League Goals Record

By Milcah Tanimu

In a dazzling display on Tuesday evening, Bayern Munich’s star striker, Harry Kane, netted his 23rd goal in the UEFA Champions League, drawing level with the legendary Chelsea icon, Frank Lampard, in terms of goals scored in the prestigious competition.

Kane continued his remarkable journey at Bayern Munich by playing a pivotal role in their 3-1 victory over Galatasaray in the Champions League. The England captain was on target for Bayern, securing the team’s second goal against their Turkish hosts.

Kane’s teammates, Kingsley Coman and Jamal Musiala, also added to the scoresheet with their goals against the formidable Turkish giants.

With this victory, Bayern Munich has firmly established its dominance in Champions League Group A, surpassing Galatasaray, Manchester United, and Copenhagen.

On a personal note for Kane, this goal has propelled him to the same level as Lampard in terms of Champions League goals, an impressive achievement that Kane has reached in just 35 appearances in the competition. In contrast, Lampard, a football legend, amassed 105 appearances in his illustrious career.

After the match, Kane shared his thoughts with Prime Video, stating, “It’s a truly significant victory. Playing here is always a challenge—a tough stadium with passionate fans. It made things complicated for us, particularly in the first half. It’s amazing, and I give credit to the Galatasaray fans, and of course, our traveling supporters as well. This is what football is all about—rising to the occasion in challenging atmospheres on significant occasions. Fortunately, we were able to do that today.”
