Nollywood icon Kanayo Kanayo has added his voice to the chorus of well-wishers celebrating the birthday of veteran actor Pete Edochie today.
Kanayo highlighted the special bond they share, noting that despite Pete Edochie being older, he makes it a yearly tradition to call him on the 1st of March, as they are both born in the same month.
In his tribute, Kanayo expressed his honor in celebrating the legendary actor while he is alive and well, showering him with accolades and endearments.
“We share the same birthday. He always makes it a point to call me on March 1st. Ebubedike, Ogadagidi, ENYI, Mmuo Nabu. It’s wonderful to celebrate you while you’re still with us. Happy 77th birthday, my dear friend.”
Earlier, Pete Edochie’s son, Yul Edochie, had also praised his father, hailing him as the Lion of Africa and the most handsome 77-year-old he knows. Yul described Pete Edochie as the greatest and offered heartfelt wishes for his well-being.
Last year, Kanayo Kanayo paid homage to Pete Edochie during the 40th birthday dinner of Elizabeth Jack Rich. In a video shared on Kanayo Kanayo’s Instagram, the actors were seen exchanging greetings in Pete Edochie’s hotel room, with the veteran actor receiving respect from his peers.
The heartfelt exchange drew admiration from fellow celebrities such as Ufuoma McDermott, Sarah Martins, Victoria Inyama, Uche Nnanna, Monalisa Chinda, and Lylaws, who expressed their delight in the comments section.
Recalling their camaraderie, in 2022, Kanayo Kanayo joined Pete Edochie for his 75th birthday Thanksgiving service, with Pete Edochie expressing gratitude for his presence at the event in photos shared on his Instagram page.
