Health: Nasarawa Assembly, State govt. partners to boost man power development

Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Health, has assured the state government of effective collaboration in order to boost health man power development for effective service delivery and the overall development of the state. 
Chairman, House Committee on Health, Hon. Usman Labaran Shafa and member representing Toto/Gadabuke Constituency made this known when he led other members of the committee on an oversight visit to the College of Health, Science and Technology, Keffi on  Monday.
Labaran Shafa said that effective synergy with the state government would not only boost man power development but would also address the health challenges being faced by the people in the state.
 ” We will ensure effective partnership for man power development and to ensure efficient and quality healthcare services delivery in the state, ” he said.
He said that the oversight function was to evaluate the performance of the College’s 2020 budget and to identify area of intervention ahead of the presentation of 2021 budget.
” The visit is to get first hand information on the 2020 budget performance of the college.
” As this will assist the committee on how to work on the 2021 budget when presented by His Excellency Engineer A A Sule,” he said.
Labaran Shafa  commended the management of the college for its effort towards repositioning the school to compete favourably with other similar institutions in the country.
The chairman advised the management of the institution to take issue of staff welfare with all seriousness it deserves in order to boost productivity.
He congratulated the management and staff of the college for the upgrade of the school from College of Health to College of Health, Science and Technology, Keffi.
Earlier,  the Provost of the College, Suleiman Muhammad appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule and members of the state legislature for giving adequate attention to the institution and called for its sustenance. 
He expressed satisfaction the governor has approved the relocation of the college to a more befitting place, noting that if such is done it will go a long way in giving the institution more lifeline. 
He however,  enumerated challenges of the college to include shortage of  man power, inadequate funding, operational vehicles and laboratory equipment among others.
It would be reported that members were conducted round the Girls Child Community Center that was constructed by the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board and handed over to the college for use.
