Hope Waddell Calabar Marked 125th Years Of Existence

Hope Waddell Training Institute, Calabar established 1895, las weekend celebrated 125 years of its existence.

The celebration which started with a seminar on Career Counselling and Health talk delivered by the Ex-student of the Institute. There was a Novelty match between the class of 1995 and the class of 1996 which the Barron Team of 1996 won.

However, history has it that football started first in Hope Waddell in the whole of the then Eastern Nigeria.

In a chat with Daybreak, Efiok O. Ephraim the National President of the Hope Waddell Old Boys Association says the Association intends to uphold the high standard the school is known for in the past. The Old Boys will donates books and Laboratory equipment to the school.

According to him, the Old Boys planed the renovation of the Premier Building brought in from Scotland in 1895. An endowment fund was establish for the renovation and resuscitation of the Premier Building.

The week-long activities ended with a thanksgiving at the Presbyterian Church, Hope Waddell Parish, with church council donating the sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira to the Old Boys Association.
