How Generator Explosion Claims Two Lives at Canadian Embassy in Abuja, FEMA Reveals

The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has provided details surrounding the tragic incident at the Canadian Embassy in Abuja, where two Nigerians lost their lives on Monday. According to FEMA spokesperson Nkechi Isa, the incident occurred due to a diesel tank explosion in the generator house of the High Commission around 10:45 am.

Isa confirmed that the explosion took place while a five-man team from JMD company was servicing two MIKANO generators. One generator was operational, while the other was undergoing maintenance. The explosion happened when a tank containing 2,000 liters of diesel in the generator house suddenly burst.

Tragically, two personnel servicing the generator lost their lives in the explosion. Two other individuals sustained severe burns and were promptly transported to the Trauma Centre at the National Hospital, Abuja, for medical treatment.

The incident highlights the importance of stringent safety measures when handling generators and fuel-related activities, underscoring the need for utmost caution to prevent such devastating accidents.
