The Sokoto State Police Command on Tuesday paraded eight suspects over alleged kidnapping and banditry in the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Muhammed Gumel, while parading the suspects, said on December 4, around 2.35pm, one Suleman Musa reported at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Sokoto, that around 2pm, unknown persons conspired and kidnapped his son, Musa Suleman, aged seven, and kept him for four days.

The complainant reportedly told the police that N4m ransom was paid before the boy was released.

The CP said, “Painstaking police investigation identified one Haliru Riskuwa, who is a neighbor to the family and popularly known as Lopetee, and he was subsequently arrested.

“According to him, he committed the crime along with one Abdullahi Umar and Faruku Usman Binji. All the suspects are in police custody, except Faruk Usman Binji, who is still at large. So far, N2.5m cash has been recovered from the suspects.”
