How to Tell if Your Ex is Still Stalking Your Social Media

Breakups are rarely easy, and many people choose to block or unfollow their exes on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat to establish boundaries. However, not everyone moves on smoothly. If you suspect your ex might still be monitoring your online activity, here are some signs to watch out for:

1. Anonymous Accounts Following You
If your account is public, look out for new, anonymous profiles that start following you. These accounts often have no profile picture, few followers, and no posts but might consistently view your stories or engage with your content. If your account is private, sudden follow requests from unfamiliar accounts could also be a red flag.

2. Frequent Story Views
If your ex is consistently among the first viewers of your stories on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, or Snapchat, it may indicate they’re keeping a close eye on your activity—whether using their main account or a fake one.

3. Excessive Likes and Comments
Pay attention to how often your ex interacts with your posts. Regular “likes,” comments, or engagement with older content could signal that they are closely following your profile. This behavior might even be an attempt to catch your attention.

4. Following Your Connections
If your ex starts following or interacting with people you frequently engage with online—such as friends, colleagues, or new connections—they could be trying to gather information about your life.

5. Random Friend Requests
For private accounts, receiving sudden friend requests from strangers or unfamiliar profiles might indicate your ex is attempting to reconnect under a different identity.

Stay Cautious
While it’s natural to be curious about who’s viewing your profile, avoid using apps or tools that claim to show who’s monitoring your account. These apps often require your login credentials, putting your account security at risk, and provide unreliable information.

If you notice these signs and feel uncomfortable, consider adjusting your privacy settings, blocking suspicious accounts, or taking a break from social media altogether to prioritize your peace of mind.
