From Noah Ocheni, Lokoja

Kogi state Security personnel at late hours on Sunday foiled coordinated attack on Okene police Area command by unknown gunmen.

The attackers numbering over 30, who came on motorcycles, were repelled by the combined efforts of local hunters , vigilante men, and other security operatives who Successfully killed one of the gunmen, disabled the explosives as many of them escaped with bullet wounds.

In a press statement signed by the Commissioner for information and communication, Kingsley Fanwo and made available to Journalists in Lokoja, said, Governor Bello has demonstrated his words with action as the invaders were degraded.

The statement noted that the superior firepower of the combined security network of the state ensured one of them was gunned down in the process while others escaped with various degrees of gun wounds.

It added that two of their motorcycles used for the attack were recovered as well as various arms and ammunition even as explosives meant to shatter the command were immediately detonated by experts.

According to the Commissioner, “The onslaught against the gunmen was coordinated by the Executive Chairmen of Local Government Areas in Kogi Central and the SSA on Security to the Governor in charge of Kogi Central.”

”This is the second time in less than two months that Kogi proved impregnable to criminals as many of them loss their lives in the attack on Yagba West LGA of the state last December.”

According to the statement, The Governor of the State, Alh. Yahaya Bello is renowned for stating that, “the criminals will come in their numbers but go back in their zeros”.

“No innocent lives were lost, instead, the criminals were the ones that received gun wounds and lost one of them on the spot.” The statement revealed.

The statement called on traditional medical homes and other medical centres to report anyone with gun wounds to the nearest security formation as local hunters are giving them hot chase.
